From Andy Barnes, MD of Time Attack Organisation
It has been little over a week since we announced the launch of the URC and I am delighted to provide an update of progress.
Our championship has been headline news and has been affectionately welcomed by the racing industry to create an exciting championship for touring cars and drop it straight into the middle of our youthful, mass attended and hugely successful exciting event format.
We have well and truly hit the spot with teams and drivers and delighted that our concept has been met with great enthusiasm. As our own club and commercial entity, we have the open air space to be creative and I proud that this initiative has been widely regarded as refreshing and welcoming – ‘ Just what the doctor ordered ‘ as one team expressed to me.
In this short time we have fielded serious enquiries and conversations including firm intent of just shy of 40 cars which continues on a daily basis. The enquiries and racing car types offered have been varied from professional front running teams to private individuals with cars looking for teams to run them which we are confident to translate into a bustling grid as planned.
We have provided snapshot information to teams, confirming important details such as tyre supply and costs to ensure they have the confidence to join us when entries open.
Our detailed presentation marketing documents are being prepared for release and distribution shortly. This will support teams looking for sponsorship acquisition to stay on the grid, offering our sizable and unchallenged platform toolkit which will create clear opportunities and make conversations with team partners, obvious, buoyant and positive.
On Saturday we announced the first of many legitimate support initiatives to teams with the prize of a funded entry fee into the 2026 FIA Motorsport Games, which you can see here.
As we continue with our championship roll-out, further tangible and well-considered plans will be revealed. These will provide shape, dimension and clear future vision with the unbounded support of Motorsport UK who’s mission and vision we share (see here) throughout our entire organisation as a authorised Motosport UK club in our own right.
We continue to welcome enquiries and conversations with all teams and interested parties, we are here and available to do so.
Thank you for support so far.
My warm and confident regards on a chilly day here in Kent…
